A vision led to a legacy, and that legacy became Jb Jewelers, founded by Joby Baldassari in 1988.

As a kid from East Scranton Hill Section, Joby was motivated at 17 to start his own business. With the only business expense of approximately $21.00 for his phone bill, he started building his business from the ground up. Joby started his business from his bedroom selling Gucci watches from NYC and doubled his profit from investments, bringing the hottest watches in town. Not only was he a young entrepreneur, but he was also a businessman who enjoyed thinking in new innovative ways.

Moving up, Joby thought outside the box again, bringing a different element to the jewelry business. This time he was not selling Gucci watches from his suitcase but investing his profits in gold.

He had “Gold Parties,” offering a personal touch and exclusive deals to the Scranton locals. Challenging the price of one of the immense Jewelry capital, also known as the Diamond District in New York City, Joby became well known for his exclusive deals and honest reputation.

He expanded his horizons by building his clientele and creating a successful business. With the wisdom of his clients, “you are way too young to have the gift of gab.” Joby became more motivated to grow his business into the well-known fine jewelry and trade arena.

Through hard work and dedication in April 1992, He embark on the journey of establishing his own store located in Downtown Scranton on Spruce St. And for the past 30 years he has been in business, but that is another story…
